Students entering the Information Systems Security Management program come from a wide range of academic, cultural and international backgrounds and age groups. These students share a common interest in protecting the information assets of organizations with a variety of management, policy and technical methods that rely on security best practices and standards.

Coming into the program some students think of information systems security as something that is done mainly on the servers an organization employs (through the use of firewalls and other devices and mechanisms).  After completing our program all students realize that today it is information within the entire enterprise that is at risk.  Defending against compromise certainly involves server and firewall setup, but it also involves policy decisions, auditing, network architecture, access requirements and above all staff at all levels seeing information systems security as a key business process in the enterprise – a core business process.  Our students help organizations achieve this end.
